Mark Stevens -
Mark Stevens founded The Strike Zone I in March of 2000 in Clinton, CT. He has been a college coach for many years at various schools. He was the hitting coach at the University of Bridgeport, Eastern CT State University (where he helped lead the team to the College World Series), Division I Iona College, and Division I Fordham University. He also coached for five years in the prestigious New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL), with the Middletown Giants and Manchester Silkworms. He was the coach of Old Saybrook High School in 2005, where he led the team to an 18-5 record and an appearance in the state tournament. Coach Stevens is one of the best instructors in the country and has trained over 50 players who have gone on to sign professional contracts.
Kyle Stevens -
Kyle Stevens is the owner of The Strike Zone II in Wolcott, CT. He has also been the manager of the Strike Zone I for the past nine years. He has been an instructor at both facilities, conducting lessons, camps and clinics for the past ten years. He has coached over 20 teams in the Connecticut Storm Baseball Program ranging from age 11 and under to 18 and under, and has trained over 4,000 players. Graduated from Quinnipiac University with a BA in English.
Tom Michalczyk -
Tom Michalczyk was an All-American pitcher at the University of New Haven from 1974-1978. He is the winningest pitcher in the school's history with a career record of 34-3. UNH went to the college world series 3 times over Tom's four year career. In his sophomore year Tom compiled a 13-0 record and had an ERA of 1.58. He also won 23 straight games in one stretch. In the
1978 season, Tom served as captain of the team that went 32-4 and finished third in the country. His final honor came after that season when he was named University of New Haven athlete of the year. He was inducted into the New Haven Hall of Fame in 1986.
George Hanchette -
George Hanchette has been an instructor at The Strike Zone for eight years.
He was the assistant coach at West Haven High School from 1970-1980 before taking over the program from 1980-1996. As a head coach at West Haven he won two state championships and finished with a career winning percentage near .700. He was a standout player at Southern CT State University. He has coached various age groups in the Connecticut Storm Baseball Program and provides hitting and defensive instruction at The Strike Zone.
Marc Lefort -
Marc has been an instructor at The Strike Zone for six years. He has coached various age groups in the Connecticut Storm Baseball Program, and participates in numerous camps and clinics. He was the head coach of Portland High School and the Meriden American Legion Program. He was also a standout player at Maloney High School in Meriden. Attended Central Connecticut State University.
Kevin Korwek -
Kevin Korwek has been an instructor at The Strike Zone for two years. He assists with various camps and clinics. He was a former player in the Connecticut Storm program before going on to play in college. He is currently a catcher at Bentley. Prior to college he attended Daniel Hand High School in Madison where he captained the baseball team.
John Parke -
John Parke joined The Strike Zone staff in 2010. He is a former player of Mark Stevens at Eastern CT State University. John attended Coginchaug High School in Middlefield, CT where he was a starting shortstop and captain his senior year. He played American Legion for three years and was named to the all-area, and all-zone teams. John then went on to attend Eastern CT State University where he earned four varsity letters, All-Conference, and many All-New England honors. His freshman year at ECSU, he helped lead the Warriors to a College World Series appearance. In the summers of 2008 and 2010, John led the semi-pro Greater Hartford Twilight Baseball Team to championships. John capped off his summer of 2010 by signing his first professional contract with the Brockton Rox of the Can Am League. John still lives in his hometown of Middlefield, CT.
Mary Ann Estabrook -
MaryAnn Estabrook has been giving softball instruction at The Strike Zone for seven years. She was a player at St. Joe’s College where she was the team’s starting pitcher. She also pitched at Morgan High School. At St.Joe’s she had a .502 lifetime batting average in addition to her pitching accomplishments, which include throwing two perfect games in one day. She led the team to the first ever NCAA appearance in the school’s history for any sport. She received her MS in Special Education, cross-endorsed with a degree in regular education, in 2006. Mary Ann is available to give pitching and hitting instruction, and also participates in various camps and clinics at The Strike Zone.
